Drywall (plasterboard) repair replaces or patches board sheets and finishes the joints with tape and compound. Traditional plastering applies wet plaster coats over masonry or lath. Older homes often have solid plaster walls that need a plasterer, not a drywall contractor.

If board has swollen, sagged, or grown mould it must be cut out and replaced — drying alone is not enough. Fix the leak first, cut back at least 30 cm beyond visible damage, and let the cavity dry before new board goes in. Persistent damp needs a moisture-meter check.

Most HDB walls are reinforced concrete or masonry — tap them: concrete sounds solid, drywall hollow. Drywall repair applies mainly to partition walls and false ceilings added in renovations; concrete wall damage needs a plasterer instead.
