Chengal is the classic tropical hardwood — dense, durable, but needs periodic oiling and grows a silver patina. Composite needs almost no maintenance and resists the constant humidity, which is why most new balcony jobs now spec WPC or mineral-composite boards at similar or lower installed cost.
