Ask about full-value protection or goods-in-transit insurance, what it costs, and what's excluded — owner-packed boxes are usually not covered for breakage. Photograph valuable items before the move and note any damage on the delivery sheet before the crew leaves.

Reserve parking as close to the door as possible at both addresses — parking fines and long carries in Hollywood are billed to you. Book the lift with your building if there is one, confirm any building move-in rules, label boxes by room, and keep essentials (documents, chargers, kettle, first-night box) in your own car.

Midweek (Tuesday-Thursday) and mid-month dates are consistently cheapest, since leases and completions cluster at month-end and weekends sell out. Off-season months also quote lower. If your dates are flexible, ask each Hollywood company which of your candidate dates is cheapest — some openly discount slow days.
