Casual portrait shoots in public are usually fine, but many formal gardens, national parks, heritage sites and city landmarks require commercial photography permits — even for family sessions — with fees from token to substantial. Your photographer should know local rules; ask who is responsible for arranging and paying for permits.

Portrait and family sessions: 2-4 weeks. Newborn sessions: book in the second trimester, since timing depends on the birth. Weddings: 6-12 months for in-demand photographers. Seasonal peaks (spring blossom, autumn colour, pre-holiday family shoots) fill up fastest.

Most include a base radius (often 20-50 km) and then charge per kilometre/mile or a flat travel fee beyond it. Destination work adds transport, accommodation, and sometimes a day rate for travel days. Always ask where the included radius ends — it's a common surprise line item.

Usually you don't need them. Raw files are unfinished negatives — large, flat, and unusable without editing software. Most photographers either refuse to sell them or price them high because unedited work carries their name. Ask instead for high-resolution edited JPEGs with a print licence, which covers almost every real need.

Typically: a pre-shoot consultation, the shooting time, culling, basic editing of a set number of images, and digital delivery. Not always included: all raw files, extra retouching, prints, albums, travel beyond a base radius, and commercial usage rights. Get the deliverables list in writing before paying a deposit.

Standard practice is one free reschedule for weather, decided 24-48 hours out. Some photographers shoot in light rain or move to covered locations — overcast light is actually flattering. Confirm the weather policy in the contract, including who decides and by when.

Hourly rates run ₱1,500-₱8,000 depending on experience. Portrait or family sessions typically total ₱3,000-₱10,000; debut and wedding packages (photo + video teams) cluster at ₱30,000-₱120,000 for full-day coverage from reputable studios.

Packages are priced for the studio's home city (usually Metro Manila or a provincial hub). Shoots elsewhere add OOT fees covering per-head transport, meals, and lodging for the team — commonly ₱1,500-₱5,000 per person for nearby provinces, more for flights. Get the OOT computation in writing.
